The Life of Gurdon Saltonstall Hubbard

 One man’s life spans the time from when Illinois became a state in 1818 to more than a decade after the Chicago’s great fire in 1871.  Gurdon Staltonstall Hubbard helped realize Joliet’s vision of a canal and established Chicago as a the marketplace of the Midwest.
